Fit For A Princess

As you all know, I am getting married in Hawaii next year! (Missed that? Come and get the deets).

Last time I posted about luggage I’ll need to take to Hawaii… today we get down to the really important things: shoes, bags and tiara’s!

All I can say about these is wow… talk about love at first sight! Not only would they make a beautiful pair of shoes for the bride, but I could see my bridesmaids wearing them too!

Available from: Jeanette Maree

Shop Me Chic readers would be familiar with these beauties from Shabby Sisters. The Vintage Amelia earrings won’t break the bank and would be the perfect amount of bling for any bride’s big day!

Simple yet elegant. That’s my kind of style and this clutch fits both of those categories. Apart from holding all those important bits and pieces on your wedding day (tissues, lipstick etc), this clutch would be quite fitting for almost any occasion afterwards.

I love the detailing on these Mollini heels and would you believe they are only $50?

Every princess needs a tiara and that includes me! (Not that I am really a princess… but on my wedding day I am allowed to be!). This beautiful Swarovski crystal Tiara is enough to add a bit of sparkle but not too over the top that you look like a five year old playing dress ups.

Let’s Write

A few weeks ago I used a ‘journaling prompt’ that I found on Pinterest. It was a fun little blog post to do and a great way to get to know more about the writer behind a blog. I found a few other bloggers who did their own ‘Currently‘ post and I loved reading them.

Which led me to a little idea… called Let’s Write.

Every week (I’ll aim for Monday) I will blog a little image with the Let’s Write topic. If you want to join in, all you have to do is write your own post, comment below with the blog link and I’ll add it to my post too (And please, I am begging you dolls – someone please join in!).

I thought I would start with something easy this week (some weeks they may be a little harder – think of it as a challenge!).

This week we are writing… “What do you love about Winter?” Hate Winter? No problem – you can join in with a “What I hate about Winter” post instead! Happy Writing.

Growing up I hated Winter. What was to love? No daylight savings, no trips to the beach or hours playing in the swimming pool. In fact it wasn’t until we moved to Brisbane two years ago that my love affair with Winter started.

The fashion: scarfs, hats, boots, jeans, layer, cute coats. I can’t get enough (as Mr likes to ask me often “How many scarves does one person need?”)

The comfort food: roast dinners, soup, slow cooker casseroles. Yum, yum and yum.

Not to mention cozy blankets, pj days, cuddling up on the lounge with Mr and watching dvds, snuggly babies in Wondersuits (is there anything more cute?) and Pacman in his flannies.

What do you love about Winter?

Happy Mothers Day

I am a little early I know but… Happy Mothers Day to all the mums who read Mumma In Heels!

Do you have any Mothers Day traditions in your house hold?

Unfortunately for us, our Mothers Day tradition is Mister being away. This is my third Mothers Day and he is yet to spend one with me!

So it will just be me and the boys, but that is okay.

I’m seeing a breakfast date at our local cafe and then a trip to the park. Quiet, simple but most importantly spent with the two littlest boys I love most.

As for presents, well last year I bought myself an iPad. This year I haven’t bought anything. Yet.

I do have my eye on these Mavi Jeans

Serena Leopard skinnies from Mavi Jeans

You must all think I am going to turn into a leopard soon, with all the leopard print things I obsess over! What can I say? It’s a neutral – just ask She’s Sonic (and trust me, she knows what she is talking about!).

Over to you dolls: What are your Mothers Day traditions? What are you wanting for Mothers Day this year? What’s the best Mothers Day present you have recieved (or bought)?

Happy Friday!

Have A Giggle: Part 2

I feel like I am always banging on about Pinterest.

But what can I say? I am addicted!

A little while back I blogged a cute little post called Have A Giggle where I shared some funny things I had been pinning.

I’ve been suffering a mild case of Monday-itis today (yes, I know it is actually Wednesday) and just incase you are aswell, I thought I would share some more!

Over to you dolls: Do you have a case over Wednesday Monday-itis? Do you enjoy pinning the odd LOL-worthy image? Still feeling a little snappy? Check out the rest of my Made Me Laugh board!

Happy Wednesday,

Kimye’s Matching Sneakers

These photos have been making their way around the internet over the last week with everyone commenting on Kimye’s Kim and Kanye’s matching Air Jordan sneakers.

Forget the sneakers for a mo. I can look past the sneakers, sometimes a girl just wants to walk without her feet suffering at the end of the day. Sure, I would of opted for Converse or a pair of Isabel Marant’s over the Air Jordan’s but each to their own!

It’s not the matching sneakers that is making me cringe, it is that outfit!

Kim is not a size zero and there is nothing wrong with that. I’m all for positive body image and embracing curves but I am also a big believer in dressing for your body shape and unfortunately for Kim, this outfit is just so unflattering on her.

Hi Khlo & LamLam!

Interestingly enough, she sported the same Balenciaga leather pants days later and swapped that awful jacket (not the jacket itself, but how it looks on her body) for a simple, black blazer and all I could say was wow – what a difference! She looks amazing, my kind of style fo sho (oops – did I really just say that?)

The lesson to be learnt here? We all need to dress for our body type! If you have no idea what body shape you are, I stumbled across a handy Body Shape calculator on the Westfield website. Not only will it help you find what body shape you are, it will give your a few do’s and don’ts on dressing your body too.

Over to you dolls: Do you know what body type you are? (I think I am an hourglass… I’m off to find out for sure!). What do you think of Kim’s outfits? Do you and your other half ever sport matching shoes?

Motherhood Recipes

Baby Food: Lawson’s First Pasta

Today I have the very first pasta recipe that I inroduced to my little monkey and let me tell you something, he loved it! Not only that but he chomped down the pieces of pasta like he had been eating it for years!

You’ll need:

- 2 tablespoons of risoni (or any other teeny, tiny pasta)

- one tomato, skinned, seeded and chopped

[if you're unsure how to remove tomato skin, have a read of Lawson's Chicken Delight]

- one carrot steamed until soft

- one mushroom diced

- one tablespoon of grated cheese

What to do:

- cook the risoni (I just microwaved it)

- brown the mushroom slightly in a saucepan

- add the tomato and steamed carrot and cook for a few minutes

- add the cheese and take the saucepan off the stove

- add some water (boiled or cooking) and use a stick blender to puree until smooth. The amount of water depends on the texture your baby prefers, I just add a little bit at a time until it’s right.

- stir in the cooked risoni and serve!

Out of all my baby food photos, this is definitely the worst! Lawson was getting cranky waiting to be fed so I took one snap and unfortunately, this was it!

This makes 3 or 4 portions depending on how much your baby eats. You could always add a bit of zucchini (or any other vegies) as well. As they get older, feel free to swap the risoni for a larger pasta, puree the tomato only and add the carrot + mushroom diced instead.

How does your little one like their pasta?

OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection

I am absolutely Disney obsessed and in particular, have a huge soft spot for Minnie Mouse so imagine my excitement when OPI announced their Vintage Minnie Mouse collection!

The collection contains four polishes: Nothin Mousie ’bout It [a glitter topcoat complete with little hearts], I’m All Ears [a bright pink, shimmery jelly], If You Moust You Moust [a bright pink creme] and The Colour of Minnie [a shimmery red].

The collection will be available from June 2012 (in the US that is, not sure about here in Aus) and while I wait to get my hands on the polishes, I am pinning Minnie Mouse pins on Pinterest – come and join me!

Click on over here to The PolishAholic to see nail swatches of all four polishes. I am dying over the cuteness that is Nothin Mousie bout It.

Will you be adding a bit of Minnie Mouse to your polish collection?

Happy Wednesday,

MBFWA, Here I come!

Today marks the kick off of MBFWA (Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia).

As a blogger, there is nothing more I love than stalking coverage of red carpet events or fashion week trends. The thing I love most about it though, is convincing myself that I am way more fabulous than I actually am.

For example, I can convince myself that I am spending my day hanging out with celebrities and models when in reality, I am spending my day with two (adorable) children and singing the same three nursery rhymes over and over again (For the record, they are ‘Miss Polly had a dolly’, ‘Incy Wincy Spider’ and ‘The wheels on the bus’). I can imagine myself sipping on an expensive ‘pre show’ champagne while I am actually guzzling down my second coffee to ignore the fact that I only clocked about four hours sleep last night.

But most of all, I love that I can sit here in my pj’s (well, tights and one of Mr’s t shirts – yes, that is how unfashionable I am right now) and my trusty EMU uggs, typing amoungst a sea of toys (thank you cyclone Pacman!) and stalking all tweets + Instagram pics containing the #MBFWA or #MBAFW hashtag while imagining that I am actually a fashionista blogging from my chic NY apartment and snuggling up to one of my many Hermès totes.

Just a shot of me in my apartment which was taken last week…*

How do you celebrate fashion week? Hopefully in a more glamorous way than I!

Happy Monday,

Mumma In Heels.Xo

*But seriously, can I please have Olivia Palermo’s apartment?

A Pop Of Colour

Every year when the cooler weather rolls around, I find my wardrobe becomes full of black and grey. I think black and grey are great colours to have in every wardrobe as they are so easy to style  but to stop myself from looking like I am attending a funeral, it’s important to stock up on colourful accessories (and who doesn’t love a good reason to shop!) to give every outfit that much needed pop of colour!

Here are some things I am loving:

1.  Cutout Neon Pink Cuff from Miss Trudie – $19

[Everyone needs a bit of neon in their life and for less than $20, why not!]

2.Reef It to Me purse from ModCloth – $24.99

[Simple yet fabulous]

3. Striped Scarf from Katies – $19.95

[Love the contrast of the orange and the neutral]

4. Wild Journey Flat from ModCloth – $54.99

[Are these not the most beautiful flats you have ever seen? That colour AND leopard print on the inside? I die!]

5. Wednesday from Darling – $16.95

[If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you would of seen me wearing this. Such a fun pink!]

Do you tend to wear more black and grey when the weather cools down too? Tell me what accessories you have your eye on at the moment!

Have a fabulous Saturday,

Friday’s Link Love

Just a little snapshot I prepared earlier! Feel free to use it for your own link love but please credit it back to me.

Happy Friday Dolls!

I haven’t done a link love in forever and I’ve read so many fabulous posts this week that I just had to share with you all. Check out these amazing reads tonight over a quiet glass of wine or tomorrow morning snuggled up in bed with a cup of coffee.

- First up, my amazing business partner Sonia from She’s Sonic gets two links. The first is an amazing journey Sonia has come through (this is definitely a must read and if I am honest, had me tearing up a little!) plus she writes a fabulous fashion post featuring her favourite neutral, leopard print!

- Sarah from Chalkboard Nails does an amazing tape manicure using a few polishes from the new OPI Spiderman collection. Overall I wasn’t that impressed with the collection (besides ‘My Boyfriend Scales the Walls’) but this mani has convinced me to purchase four colours. A special mention to Jen from The Nail Polish Project for introducing me to Chalkboard Nails too!

- The stunning Rosemary from Lashes & Lattes does her first outfit post and it is all kinds of amazing. Plus her eyebrows are to DIE for (and you all know how much I love eyebrows!)

- The beautiful Bec from Bec & George proves my theory that my cheesy mash recipe is not just for adults! If you have time, click around the rest of her blog. It is so pretty to look at!

- And Lastly, Maria from Crashing Red rocks a perfect, casual, neon outfit. If I ever win lotto, I may just hire Australian fashion bloggers to be my stylists – we have some amazing ones (but that is a whole other post!).

As for me, I have one thing on my weekend to do list (or two… if you count the uni assignments I have to do) and that is to make this delicious champagne cocktail.

image from fresh365

To check out the recipe, head on over to fresh365 – an amazing food blog I discovered thanks to Pinterest.

Send me the links you’re loving this week. What’s planned for the weekend?
